Using the speaker page

Open the speaker link, allow the microphone and click “Start”; captions appear on listeners’ phones.

The speaker page is where the speaker records. Speakers do not sign up. They only need the speaker link from the organizer.

Before you start

  • Open the speaker link in Chrome or Edge on a computer. A phone also works, but keep its screen on.
  • Do not open it inside LINE, Facebook or similar apps. Open it in a browser instead.
  • The link’s remaining validity is shown at the top of the page. If it has expired, ask the organizer for a new link.

Start recording

  1. Open the speaker link.
  2. When the browser asks to use the microphone, click “Allow”.
  3. Under “Audio source”, choose your microphone.
  4. In “Settings”, under “Languages I speak”, pick the languages you will use and click “Save”. Captions become more accurate and faster.
  5. Click “Start” and begin speaking.

Captions appear on the speaker page, and listeners’ phones and the projector show them at the same time. The level meter moves with your voice. If there is no audio for 6 seconds, the page asks you to check the microphone.

Stop recording

Click “Stop”. Time is no longer counted after you stop. During breaks, we recommend stopping, then clicking “Start” again when you return.

Let listeners join

Click “Let listeners join” to show the listener QR code full screen, so you can share your screen or project it for the room. If the event has a listener password, ask the organizer for it and tell your listeners.

The “More” menu

  • Clear captions: clears the captions on the speaker page, listener pages and projector captions. The transcript is kept.
  • Full screen.
  • Report a problem: see When something goes wrong.

Other information

  • The top of the page shows how many listeners are watching and the seat count.
  • In the “Settings” tab, “Event settings” shows the translation languages, listener cap and whether listeners can hear speech. To change these, contact the organizer.
  • The “Projection” tab has the projector URL to open on the computer connected to the projector.

Hours warnings

When the organizer has 10, 5 or 1 minutes of hours left, the speaker page warns you. Please tell the organizer. When hours run out, recording stops automatically. After the organizer tops up, click “Start” again.
