Event settings
Use the event “Settings” tab for languages, listener cap, caption pace, translation style and speech.
After you create an event, adjust the details in its “Settings” tab. Changes apply only after you click “Save”. If you leave without saving, the page warns you.
Basic settings
- Event name.
- Topic and background: the field, the speakers and frequent terms. Translation gets more accurate. For example: “Medical AI forum; speakers are physicians; frequent terms: imaging, reimbursement”.
- Translation languages: the caption languages listeners can choose. Each additional language uses 10% more hours.
- Languages the speaker will use: pick only the languages the speaker will actually use.
- Listener cap: the maximum number of phones or computers watching at once (default 500). Every 100 above 500 uses 10% more hours. When the cap is reached, new listeners see that the event is full.
The page shows “Each hour of recording uses X hours”, which changes when you change languages or the cap.
Captions and translation
- Caption pace: “Fast” shows captions at each phrase, with a shorter delay. “Standard” waits for the full sentence.
- Draft captions: captions shown while the speaker is still talking, replaced by the final caption. When off, only final captions show, a little later. You can also set the draft color, opacity and italic style.
- Translation style: “Interpreter style” trims fillers and restarts for concise captions. “Faithful” keeps every word.
- Will several speakers take turns (e.g. a panel)?: turn on for panels; captions show “Speaker 1, Speaker 2”. Turn off for a single speaker; captions appear faster.
- Convert Chinese source captions to Traditional Chinese: when on, Chinese source text shows in Traditional Chinese.
Synthesized speech
- Turn on “Listeners can hear voice” to add a speaker button to the listener page, so listeners can hear the translation read aloud.
- You can set the speaking rate (default 1.15× so it keeps up with the captions) and the voice for each language.
Event code
The event code is part of the listener URL and QR code. It is random if you leave it empty, or click “Change code” to set your own (lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, 6–32 characters). Old QR codes stop working after a change. Open speaker and listener pages switch to the new code automatically.
End or delete
- On the “Overview”, in “Event state”, click “End event”. The speaker page cannot record and listeners see that the event has ended. All data is kept, and you can “Reopen”.
- “Delete event” removes the settings, projector captions and transcript. This cannot be undone. Download the CSV or JSON in the “Transcript” tab first.
Some actions interrupt recording while the speaker is recording. The page warns you first.
