Top up and how hours work
Prepaid hours, billed by the second; languages and listener cap set the rate; 10 minutes to start.
HearGlobe uses prepaid hours: a one-time purchase, no automatic charges and no monthly fee.
How to top up
Only the organization owner can top up.
- In the left menu, click “Hours”.
- Under “Top up”, choose a plan and click “Buy”.
- Pay by card on the payment page. The page is pre-filled with your “Billing details”.
- Hours are added a few seconds after payment. If you do not see them yet, reload the page.
To pay by bank transfer or another method, or to ask for a trial, email billing@hearglobe.com.
How hours are counted
- Time is counted only while the speaker is recording, by the second, with no minimum.
- Silence while recording counts; pauses and disconnections do not.
- Hours are based on 1 translation language and a listener cap of 500.
- Each extra translation language uses 10% more.
- Every 100 listeners above a cap of 500 uses 10% more (a partial 100 counts as 100).
- Chat mode uses 1/20 of the hours (3 minutes per recorded hour).
- Synthesized speech has no extra charge.
- Hours are valid for 12 months from purchase. The earliest to expire are used first.
Example: 3 translation languages and a listener cap of 800 give a rate of 1 + 0.2 + 0.3 = 1.5×. One hour of recording uses 1.5 hours. The event “Settings” page shows the rate for that event.
Start threshold: at least 10 minutes
Each time the speaker clicks “Start”, the hours left must cover at least 10 minutes of recording at this event’s current settings. This prevents a talk from being cut off midway. Once started, recording can use the balance down to zero.
When hours run low
- The speaker page warns the speaker at 10, 5 and 1 minutes left.
- The organization’s owners and members get an email when hours are low and when they run out.
- When hours run out, recording stops automatically. The speaker page says the time is used up, and the listener page shows that translation is paused. Listeners do not need to rejoin.
- After you top up, the speaker clicks “Start” again.
What the Hours page shows
- Hours left: recording time at 1 translation language and 500 listeners.
- Held for live sessions: held when recording starts; whatever is not used is returned.
For details, see Usage reports and receipts. Default limits: 3 concurrent events per organization, up to 1,000 listeners per event and up to 10 translation languages. To get more, email support@hearglobe.com.
