Listener link, QR code and password
Listeners scan the QR code or open the link; set a listener password and cap when needed.
Listeners do not sign up. Anyone with the listener link or QR code can read the captions, so share them with care. To limit access, set a listener password.
Listener link and QR code
On the event “Overview”, the “Listeners” card has:
- Listener link: copy it into your event notice or slides.
- QR code: print it on posters or table cards, or show it on the venue screen.
- Open listener page: check what listeners will see.
On the speaker page, “Let listeners join” shows the QR code full screen, so the whole room can scan it.
Listeners can also enter the event code on the HearGlobe home page. To change the code, see Event settings. Old QR codes stop working after a change.
Set a listener password
- In the “Listeners” card, enter a password in “Listener password” (6–64 characters).
- Click “Set password” and confirm.
- Write the password down. It is not shown here again.
Listeners enter the password the first time they open the page. The same device does not ask again for 7 days.
- When you change or remove the password, listeners who are connected must enter it again.
- The speaker page does not show the password. If the speaker should tell the audience, give the password to the speaker separately.
- The broadcast URL for projector captions is not affected by the password.
Listener cap
- Change the “Listener cap” in Settings. The default is 500; by default an organization can set up to 1,000 per event.
- Listeners are counted per device. A seat is held for 2 minutes after a listener leaves, so the same device can come back.
- When the event is full, new listeners see a message and can try again later.
- A cap above 500 uses more hours (10% more per 100 listeners).
After the event ends
After you click “End event”, the listener page shows that the event has ended, with the last captions. After you reopen it, listeners tap “Join” again to come back.
